"The Crooked Court Jester and the Last Knight"

Sneak Peak!

The Court Jester jingled when he walked, not only from the bells on his hat, but also from the coins in his pouch. He was a hilarious performer and a sly pick-pocket. After following the Jester through his adventurous life of jolly thievery, we behold the distress of a soul who realizes how one’s misdeeds impacts others. In the height of this sorrow, we encounter the great power of mercy ministered by a knight whose king is truly the King of Mercy. The Jester is transformed before the reader, mercifully and gloriously changed. Based on entry nos.1448 and 1507 of the Diary of St. Faustina, The Crooked Court Jester and the Last Knight brings the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick to life. It reveals the powerful spiritual healing of repentance, confession and the anointing, all gifts of the King of Mercy.  The words of the King of Mercy, “If you want, I will fight for you,” is a direct quote from Faustina’s diary!

"Smithyboy and the King Who Stayed"

Sneak Peak!

Smithy and the King Who Stayed presents the image of a father forging the heart of his son to be strong in virtue and strong in faith. Young “Smithy,” works alongside his father at the forge. When the King arranges a visit to the village, he arrives as a commoner without pomp or splendor—a humble, hidden king. Smithy learns from the eyes of his father to look upon the hidden King and believe in him. Smithy devotedly visits the King who receives his dreams of knighthood and forms Smithy’s heart. After changing the heart of the local bully, Smithy learns of the King’s impending departure. The boy pledges his knight’s helmet to the parting King as a token of his whole person, and in the end, the King, now revealed in majestic glory, gives a life-changing gift to the boy in front of the entire village. This heartfelt exchange of gifts, suggests the heavenly reality of Holy Communion.

Babe Ruth and the Chapel in a Child's Heart

Reflecting on his checkered past Babe wrote, “The more I think of it, the more important I feel it is to give kids “the works” as far as religion is concerned. They’ll never want to be holy—they’ll act like tough monkeys in contrast, but somewhere inside will be a solid little chapel. It may get dusty from neglect, but the time will come when the door will be opened with much relief. But the kids can’t take it, if we don’t give it to them.” (Ibid)

Our Mission for God's Beloved Children

The heart of our mission is to nurture the faith of children and their families, one story at a time. In a world that often moves too fast, we believe in the quiet power of storytelling to bring families together and draw hearts closer to God. Every page we craft invites children and parents to explore their faith, feel the warmth of God’s love, and see His presence in their daily lives.

Our stories, woven with messages of hope, forgiveness, and joy, inspire family discussions that build a foundation of trust in God’s plan. We envision a world where every child grows up knowing they are cherished by God and supported by their family to live their faith with courage and kindness. Together, we are planting seeds of faith that will bloom for eternity.

A child’s heart is a sacred place where an author writes with innocence for innocence.

SOME OF OUR REVIEWS

"Never in my thirty-plus years of teaching religion to grades 1-10, have I ever come across such a compelling story as Susan Bellavance's King of the Shattered Glass. . .ANYONE, particularly parents, faith-formation teachers, and helpers would necessarily be inspired and find a precious tool in understanding and imparting not only knowledge of Penance, but most importantly the "heart" of the matter: the Father's tenderness and forgiveness. A jewel hidden in this story is its rootedness to today's devotion to Divine Mercy."

"I have read and thoroughly enjoyed the book, King of the Shattered Glass by Susan Joy Bellavance. I endorse this book for use in Catholic schools and sacramental prep programs. It beautifully teaches how God, through his abundant mercy and loving tenderness, creates something beautiful from our brokenness. This book would be a wonderful resource for parents and teachers in preparing children for the Sacrament of Reconciliation."

". . . King of the Shattered Glass is possibly the finest children's book I've ever read on Confession / Penance / Reconciliation.  My children love it, and I plan to share it with our parish students before they celebrate the Sacrament each year.  Simple yet profound, this book captures the heart and depth of Our Lord's Mercy perfectly in a way that all children can understand and relate to. . . . It should be in every Catholic family's library."
